Our Dream Trip : Emerald City Comic Con!

Thirteen years ago, marriage equality didn’t exist. Even seven years ago, when we decided to make our love good and legal, we were limited to a domestic partnership. Most state governments refused to recognize that I wanted this incredible girl beside me for the rest of my life. For seven long years, we were married but we weren’t. It was complicated, frustrating, like an integral part of our lives was stuck in stasis.
In 2012, all that changed for the better and on a brisk November evening in 2013, on a beach in Maine at sunset with an audience of two, we finally got married, and that wonderful girl became my wife.
I want to make this occasion special for the wonderful woman who’s put up with me for the past thirteen years. Seattle, land of coffee, former home of the Emerald Archer, and the largest city in Washington, a state that embraces marriage equality, is the perfect place to celebrate our union. We don’t have disposable income enough to fund our own honeymoon; we didn’t have the money to fund more than a very basic wedding ceremony. But with your help, I’m hoping we can do this. And I can’t thank you enough for helping me make this dream a reality.
Sincerely, with eternal gratitude,
- Kit Bishop
